Sailors

The Antillean sailors who served on merchant vessels during WW2 for a minimal period of six months, were eligible for a medal. This medal was called the ‘Oorlogs Herinnerings Kruis’ (OHK) or War Remembrance Cross.

There were several bars attached to this medal. The bar ‘Krijg ter zee 1940-1945’ (War at Sea 1940-1945) was used for Navy personnel. Another bar was ‘Oorlogsdienst Koopvaardi 1940-1945’ (War Service Merchant Navy 1940-1945), meant for Merchant Navy seamen.
