WWII museum Curaçao

Battle-Station Blaauw Force Foundation, Curaçao 1942 was founded in 2008 and highlights the important role of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands during the Second World War.

The foundation is committed to preserve the WWII history in Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire and strives to conserve and display all remains to the public in order to keep the memory of the war years alive for current and future generations.  With a special focus on the American Troops that were stationed on ‘Blaauwbaai’ (Blue Bay) from 1942 until 1945 to protect the island of Curaçao from German invasions during WWII.

In 1993 founder and current board chairman Allan van der Ree was appointed Security Chief for an upcoming development of a prestigious Residential, Beach & Golf Resort, now known as Blue Bay Curaçao. In this position, he noticed the silent remains of the WWII battery of the American troops and, intrigued by these findings, he decided to save as much as possible for future generations and in honor of those who came to protect the island of Curacao and its people. In the more than 25 years that followed, Allan van der Ree has managed to collect, preserve and protect a considerable collection of WWII artefacts. This was the main reason to develop a WWII Museum on Curacao for the general public to see all of these historical remains and go back in time to this rather unknown chapter of WWII history in the Dutch Caribbean.
